Orthopedics

Eleven orthopedic surgeons and a physiotherapy gym in the same corridor, so the scan, the diagnosis and the first rehab session can happen in one week.

  • 11 orthopedic surgeons
  • MRI on site
  • Same-week scans

Overview

What orthopedics here actually involves

Most people come with one joint that has stopped doing what it used to. The first appointment is thirty minutes: what happened, what it stops you doing, and an examination that usually tells us more than the scan will.

If imaging is needed you will not be sent across town for it. X-ray is in the building at all four clinics and MRI is at Pearl District and Beaverton, with same-week slots kept back for new assessments rather than filled a month ahead.

Surgery is the last option on the list, not the first. Roughly three in four people who come through this department are managed with physiotherapy, injection or time, and the surgeon who says so is the one who would have operated.

Treatments & procedures

Six things that happen in this department

Everything below is done at Medice. Nothing here is sent out to a third party you have never heard of.

Ultrasound-guided joint injection
Steroid or hyaluronic acid, placed under ultrasound rather than by feel. Fifteen minutes, no sedation, and you walk out. Most people notice the difference within a week.
MRI and CT imaging
MRI at Pearl District and Beaverton, CT at all four clinics. New assessments get a same-week slot; the report is back inside forty-eight hours and your surgeon reads it with you.
Arthroscopy, knee and shoulder
Keyhole surgery as a day case at our partner hospital, with your Medice surgeon operating. Home the same afternoon, first physiotherapy appointment booked before you leave.
Hip and knee replacement
Planned in this building, done at the partner hospital, rehabilitated back here. The pre-operative assessment, the surgeon and the physiotherapist all read one record.
Fracture clinic
Walk-in for a suspected fracture at any clinic; X-ray is in the building. Casting, bracing and the follow-up schedule are handled without another referral.
Gait and movement assessment
Video gait analysis in the physiotherapy gym, used for persistent running injury and post-surgical rehab. An hour, in trainers, and you get the video.

Your visit

What to expect, step by step

  1. Before you come

Wear something that lets us see the joint. If you have had a scan elsewhere, bring the disc or tell us who holds it and we will request the images.

  2. Checking in

Arrive ten minutes early. Check in at the desk or on your phone. Once you are checked in, the average wait is nine minutes.

  3. With the orthopedic surgeon

Thirty minutes of history and examination, and an X-ray in the building if it will change anything. You will hear the plan the same visit.

  4. After the visit

Notes, images and the plan reach your portal the same day. If physiotherapy is next, that appointment is already booked when you leave.

Equipment & technology

Bought instead of a bigger lobby

Everything on this list is ours and sits inside a Medice building. Nothing is hired in for the afternoon, and nothing is sent to a partner site you would have to travel to.

Every image is read by the surgeon who requested it — not a remote reporting service.

Orthopedics FAQ

The five we are asked most

Anything not answered here, ask when you book — the person on the phone is a nurse, not a call centre.

Do I need a referral to see an orthopedic surgeon?
No. Book directly. If a GP has already scanned the joint, tell us who holds the images when you book and we will have them on screen for the appointment.
Will I need surgery?
Probably not. About three in four people seen in this department are managed without an operation — physiotherapy, an injection, or time and a plan. The surgeon who tells you that is the one who would have operated.
How quickly can I get an MRI?
Slots are held back for new assessments, so most people are scanned within the same week and the report is signed inside forty-eight hours.
Can I walk in with a suspected fracture?
Yes, at any of the four clinics. X-ray is in the building, and casting or bracing is done the same visit rather than sending you on somewhere.
Where does the operation actually happen?
Day-case and joint replacement surgery is at our partner hospital, with your Medice surgeon operating. The assessment before and the rehabilitation after are both here.
