Clinical philosophy
Watch the inhaler before you change it
Most asthma that looks uncontrolled is asthma taken incorrectly. She watches you use the device at every visit, which finds more problems than stepping the dose up ever has.
A cough lasting eight weeks is not a chest infection and rarely needs another antibiotic. Naming what it actually is — reflux, post-nasal drip, a drug side effect — is usually the whole treatment.
She is blunt about smoking and unhurried about it. Nobody has ever stopped because a doctor was disappointed in them, and she has a whole clinic for the part that does work.
