What this job actually is
Every job page on this site promises that admin is somebody else's job. This is that somebody. The authorisations team handles prior approvals, referral chasing and payer appeals for all four clinics, and no clinician here submits one.
It is detailed, adversarial work with real consequences — an approval that lands on Thursday instead of the following Tuesday is a scan a patient does not wait a week for. It is also hybrid after the first month, because most of it is a portal and a telephone.

Day to day
What you would be doing
- Submit and track prior authorisation requests across twelve payers
- Appeal denials, including assembling the clinical evidence with the requesting clinician
- Chase external referrals until they are booked, not until they are sent
- Keep the team's turnaround dashboard honest and flag the payers that are slipping
- Tell patients where their approval actually is when they ask
What we need
What you would bring
- Two years of prior authorisation, medical billing or payer-side experience
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
- The persistence to phone a payer for the fourth time without losing the thread
- Clear written English — half of this job is an appeal letter
