Paediatric nurse practitioner

Your own panel of children and families at Beaverton, with a paediatrician down the corridor rather than at the end of a phone.

The role

What this job actually is

A full scope-of-practice role in the Beaverton paediatrics team: your own list of children and families, seen from the newborn check onwards, with a consultant paediatrician in the building every day you are.

Appointments here are twenty-five minutes for a child and forty for a first visit, because a rushed paediatric consultation is a consultation that ends with a parent still worried. Nobody is asked to work through a break, and when cover is short we cancel a clinic rather than stretch it.

Day to day

What you would be doing

  • Hold your own paediatric list, including well-child visits, immunisations and acute presentations
  • Assess, diagnose and prescribe within your scope, escalating in person rather than by message
  • Run the Beaverton newborn check clinic two mornings a week
  • Work with the practice dietitian and behavioural health team on shared families
  • Keep the childhood immunisation register current and chase the gaps

What we need

What you would bring

  • Current Oregon RN and APRN licensure with PNP certification (PNP-PC)
  • Prescriptive authority, or eligibility for it
  • Two years of paediatric practice, at least one of them in an outpatient setting
  • Comfortable being the clinician a frightened parent talks to first

How hiring works

Four steps, about three weeks

  1. Apply

One form and a CV. No cover letter — we would rather read your answer to the two questions on the form.

  2. A call, thirty minutes

With the person you would report to. It is a conversation about the work, not a competency grid.

  3. A half-day in clinic

Paid at your day rate. You see how we actually run, and the team you would join gets a say.

  4. Offer, with the band shown

The number comes from the published band and where you sit in it. We tell you which point and why.
